Owing to a very heavy rainstorm on April, 20th, a washout to Railway embankment occurred South of Shatin, and at Mile 9 a portion of the embankment was undermined and a local passenger train derailed causing serious damage to Railway stock. At other points on the Railway minor damage occurred. The cost of repairs is estimated as follows:-

The Secretary of State for the Colonies has approved of the grant of a salary to Mr. W. S. Cuff, Traffic Inspector, of £420 per annum as from Ist January, 1931.
